Over thirty years ago, Ray and Christina Appen bought a bi-monthly newspaper in Alpharetta called The ReVue. They left their positions at The Miami Herald and moved to run the newspaper. In the following years, they renamed the paper The Revue & News and increased the publishing frequency to weekly.
Following the success of the Revue & News, the Appens started publishing four more weekly newspapers covering North Fulton and South Forsyth and bi-annual community guides. In 2019 they bought the Dunwoody Crier from Dick Williams. They also expanded their business to include print publishing, website services, social media management, email management, video production, podcast production, branding and media buys.
Appen Media Group has been a pillar of the communities they have served over the past three decades, and continues to grow the business in parallel with the area.

The core of its business, Appen Media Group publishes the weekly newspapers Alpharetta-Roswell Herald, Dunwoody Crier, Sandy Springs Crier, Johns Creek Herald, Forsyth Herald and Milton Herald.

Appen Media Group owns and operates portals through Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram with the largest subscribers and follower base for its market. It also has tools to operate custom campaigns for clients and events.
Event Management
Appen Media Group is strongly positioned to manage events marketing efforts for local companies by streamlining marketing, revenue, and day of operations. Internally it operates the annual North Atlanta Best of the Best contest and black tie gala.
podcasts
In 2018 Appen Media Group launched the Appen Podcast Network, offering listeners a unique way of consuming local news and entertainment, as well as an outlet for advertisers to reach a larger (and younger) audience in a cost effective way.
Niche Publications
Bi-annually Appen Media Group publishes community guides called the Answer Book, each with topical content and advertisers. It has also published guides for the PGA Tour, high school football, medical, senior, education and summer camps.

Since 2013 Appen Media Group has won over 100 national awards for ad design and page layout. It creates comprehensive and collaborative multi-platform ad campaigns used across a wide media mix.
